Hello friend! I’m so glad you’re here.
My name is Eloise! I am a Colorado native and a lover of birth work, dance, sculpture, transformative justice, critical psychology and the outdoors. Outside of my work as a doula I am a partner, teacher, caregiver, grassroots organizer, researcher, adventurer and artist.
I am a graduate of DONA® International’s Birth Doula Program, an employee of Denver Health’s Birth Doula Program, a member the 9th Ave Doulas, Colorado Mountain Doulas, doulaBUDs Collaborative and part of the Colorado Doula Project. Outside of my work at the hospital I run a private practice that includes a broad scope of women’s health services and social justice work. I specialize in unmedicated, natural childbirth and take a pro-choice approach.
For as long as I can remember I have been passionate about women’s health and child development. My travels have taken me around the world, giving me a unique perspective on multicultural approaches to birth and human health. I have been working with children and families for over 12 years as a nanny, infant care specialist, therapeutic social worker, parent coach, teacher and birthworker. My interest in and love for human development and wellbeing led me to get an undergraduate degree in Social Justice Studies, focusing on Decolonial Pedagogy and Community-Based Organizing. I then went on to recieve my Masters in Critical Psychology and Human Services, emphasizing birth work and neurodivergence/sensory integration in my studies. This is also what led me to becoming a doula as I was seeing so many connections between birth/first 6 weeks of life and longterm health outcomes. Over the past 10 years I have worked closely with people from many walks of life including the LGBTQ+ community, families in the foster care system, teen moms, immigrants, refugees, homeless folks, incarcerated people, the neurodivergent community, and more.
I have extensive knowledge on Ayurvedic and Chinese Medicine as well as Dance Movement Therapy and Buddhist Psychology. I have training in several therapeutic techniques including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). Additionally, I have training in Reiki, Qigong and Tai Chi.
I am passionate about bringing both a holistic and social-justice-centered lens to my clients. With an understanding that Western Medicine does not always have all the answers, I provide education and options that may not otherwise be accessible. I can help alleviate anxiety and support making this journey an empowering and grounded experience. I believe the birthing person’s wishes and decisions should be considered and respected above all else and it is my job to help them feel heard and repsected. I value clear compassionate communication and a trauma informed approach. I offer information, advocacy, resources, reassurance and continual emotional and physical support to the families I work with, centering their needs and desires, always.
I believe a birth doula is there to provide a grounding touch, physically, emotionally and spiritually to the entire family/support team. With the atmosphere being held intentionally, this gives the birthing person, and family, a chance to relate to their experience, relax, and enjoy this beautiful journey.
