Medicaid

I am an APPROVED provider through Medicaid which means if you have medicaid insurance your services will be 100% free! Over the past year I have worked with hundreds of laboring families who are part of Health First Colorado. The doula services you will have access to are everything in my Standard Birth Package. For those looking for birth only support, that will include everything in my Birth Only Package. For those looking specifically for prenatal and postpartum care, please contact me directly to talk about your options.

*Medicaid covers doula care whether you are planning on a home birth, birth center or hospital birth!

What you need to do:

Practically nothing! During our initial intake you will provide me with your member ID as well as your provider’s name and NPI number. I will do the rest!

That being said, Medicaid will ONLY cover doula services for families who are actively covered by Medicaid. In order to keep your doula support at $0 cost you must maintain coverage through the duration of our time working together. Additionally, you must not hire another doula for the specific services I am offering as only one doula can bill per service.

*For families covered by Medicaid there will be ZERO out of pocket expenses for doula care when working with Grounding Touch Doula Services.

Tricare

I am TRICARE approved! I am currently only taking TRICARE clients on a case by case basis due to the fact that most doulas are experiencing challenges with their claims being denied by TRICARE. If you have Tricare insurance, please reach out and we can figure out how to get you the doula support that you are looking for whether that be with me or one of my recommended referrals.

Carrot Benefits

I am Carrot approved! For families with Carrot Employment Benefits, doula services can be reimbursed, as long as your doula is Carrot approved.

What CAN you use your benefits for:

  • Daytime doula care

  • Overnight support

  • Sleep support

  • Postpartum mom care

  • Education classes

  • Support with breastfeeding (non-clinical, doula support)

  • Support with pumping or bottle feeding

  • Soothing support for baby

  • Answering questions about newborn life or parenting

  • Newborn consultations

How does carrot reimbursement work?

Carrot is a benefit that some companies offer to help families pay for fertility, birth and postpartum support. The benefits are paid to the family, so doulas contract with the family directly, not with Carrot. Doulas are paid by the family, provide an itemized invoice/receipt, and Carrot reimburses the family once paperwork is submitted.

If you have Carrot benefits, make sure to find out the limits of your coverage so you will understand your total budget for doula care. This will help me determine how much care I can offer to stay within your budget and create a nurturing plan for your postpartum care.

Reimbursement from Insurance

If you have an insurance that does not cover doula services I still recommend contacting them to ask about reimbursement. Many insurance companies are beginning to provide reimbursement for doula services. I am happy to provide the needed documentation in order for you to get reimbursed by you insurance company.
